Nuke Deadlines, Suicidal Tendencies, the Yemen Competition and The Easter Bunny

| April 02, 2015

AUTHOR: TOWNE SCHERER.COM 04/01/2015: Towne Scherer Private Wealth Management BLOG:  The Nuke negotiations with Iran blew through the March 31st deadline andthe investigation into the crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 has revealed that Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot of the jet, suffered from suicidal tendencies in the past.  In another headline, it has been reported by CNN that ISIS is gaining ground in Yemen and competing with al Qaeda for a foothold in the region.  This manifested itself into a gun-battle between the two groups in Yemen’s eastern provinces last month.  On the economic front, RiverFront Investment Group reported this week that they believe the U.S. Dollar will remain strong, stating that “the fundamental case for dollar strength is mostly cyclical: (as) the U.S. economy is growing more strongly than its developed counterparts, has higher long-term interest rates, and its central bank is no longer engaged in quantitative easing (QE) purchases of bonds.”  At the end of the week the economic calendar shows the ISM Manufacturing Index on Wednesday April 1st, the Jobless Claims on Thursday April 2nd and the Employment Situation on Friday, April 3rd.  On a final bazar note, a CNN article reported that the lawyer representing Bowe Bergdahl is presenting a defense that suggests Bergdahl is simply a “whistleblower” who left his post to report his unit for troubling behavior.  In response to the comments, the U.S. troops who served alongside Sargent Bergdahl said this “makes no sense.”  Being Easter week, we can only hope that we will get clarification whether the Bergdahl defense is valid or if the Easter Bunny really exists.
