AUTHOR: TOWNE SCHERER.COM 03/28/2015: Towne Scherer Private Wealth Management BLOG: In the midst of Nuke negotiations with Iran, “the White House dismissed the Ayatollah Khamenei’s ‘Death to America’ rhetoric, telling CNN that it was intended for a domestic political audience.” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained that such rhetoric provided even more reason for negotiating a deal with the Iranian regime. Whaaaa? Me thinks that Oscar Wilde would have believed this food for thought in his play, “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The markets remained choppy this week, absorbing a disappointing Durable Goods Orders and a Germanwings Airbus A320 crash in France that killed 150 passengers and crew. The cause of the crash is still in question. At the end of the week Jobless Claims and the GDP will now be in focus to drive the markets one way or another. RiverFront Investment Group commented this week that they do not currently see the next bear market on the horizon, suggesting that buying mid-stage cyclicals and neutralizing defensives would be prudent. In a strange turn of events, celebrated Army hero Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was exchanged for five Taliban detainees held at GITMO and then honored by President Obama at the white house last year, was charged this week with desertion and endangering fellow soldiers. Yet this transaction might not be as bad as it first appears… as it is rumored that along with Sgt. Bergdahl, the U.S. received the Brooklyn Bridge.
