October-Annual Window Dressing-Mid-Term Hope?

October, historically, is the most volatile investment month for the stock market, says Bloomberg 9/1/2022, which might be hard to believe after this September’s most recent performance. Nevertheless, the article goes on to point out that the 1929 crash, 1987 crash and the 2008 crash all occurred in….can you believe it….Halloween’s own month of…October.

Annual Window Dressing

The Annual Window Dressing, in addition, may be part of the pot stirring going on this end of 2022. Window Dressing is the term describing portfolio managers who, in an effort to improve the performance appearance in funds, sell stocks with large losses and purchase high-flying positions, reports Investopedia 2/2/2021.

Mid-Term Hope

In 17 of the 19 midterms since 1946, the marketdid better in the six months after an election than it did in the six months running up to it, according to Charles Schwab 9/13/2022. One more factor suggesting further volatility but then….some hope?

A number of pundits are now suggesting we are oversold, having retested the June 2022 lows….Yet, as Fed Chairman Powell stirs the caldron with interest rate increases….

it looks like Halloween’s month, Window Dressing and the Mid-Terms will be part

of how we ….finish the cooking

 of this end-of-the-year market brew….
