America has Recovered from Every Recession

There have been as many as 48 recessions in the United States dating back to the Articles of Confederation, says WIKI 9/16/2022. Further, there have been 11 recessions since 1948, averaging out to about one recession every six years. In addition, we have actually ‘recovered from every recession’ the United States has experienced which amounts to 49 periods of economic expansion, generally lasting as long as a year and as long as a decadeAccording to NBER dataJul 29, 2022 , the average U.S. recession lasted about 17 months in the period from 1854 to 2020. In the post-World War II period, from 1945 to 2020, the average recession lasted about 10 months.

Some pundits have argued that the current recession started in January of 2022, when it appeared that the Fed was going to aggressively start raising interest rates. Maybe history can help answer that question?

Historically, it appears that most likely the United States will, again, go through a period of recession and then experience a period of Economic Expansion.

The question becomes….

What do you want to be invested in

…when the Expansion happens…
