Terrorist Baggage Handler
The terrorist worked at a French airport as a baggage handler, reports a 7/29/2016 Daily Mail article, about the knife wielding murderer who slit the throat of a French priest in Normandy as he was giving morning mass. Not good news for airport travelers. Abdelmalik Petitjean, the baggage handler, and Adel Kermiche, both 19, were listed on the terrorist watch list. Following the attack, ISIS released a video of Petitjean calling on other extremists to ‘destroy’ France and attack its allies. This can’t be good for French tourism.
Historically Bad Economy
According to the Weekly Standard 8/8/2016, the economy under President Barack Obama has been historically bad. In the article, the growth in the economy, adjusted for inflation, is 1.5%, which is half of what it was under Jimmy Carter which posted growth of 3.3%. A chart in the report shows the average growth under the post-WW2 presidencies at 2.9%, with Obama’s growth being the lowest of the 12. You would have to go back to the Truman administration to experience growth in the 1.5% arena.
Trump is Right on Economy
Trump is right on about the economy, according to Carl Icahn in a CNBC 8/8/2016 report. Icahn went on to say that Trump will win the election ‘hands down’ if he sticks with the economic theme. Further, Icahn believes the ‘Archie Bunkers of the world’ will support Trump. Icahn, who is not on Trump’s economic advisory team, said he is developing a possible political action committee and couldn’t do so if he worked on Trump’s campaign. So, the blue collar billionaire may depend on, get this, a blue collar vote to win. Apparently, although green is good, blue may be better this time around.
