Dueling Speeches
In dueling speeches, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the presumptive nominees of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, suggested that each is not qualified to be President of the United States. CNN 6/3/2016 reported that Hillary’s speech was one of the most striking speeches of her political career, where she stated that Trump was obsessed with himself, thin skinned and temperamentally unfit to hold an office. On the other hand, Trump, in his speech a day later, said (Hillary) was possibly the most corrupt person ever to seek the presidency, according to a 6/22/2016 Slate article. The article when on to call Trump’s speech about Hillary ‘terrifyingly effective.’ As the millennials say, “Game on.”
And Speaking of Games
The Hill 6/23/2016 says a Supreme Court deadlocked vote effectively killed Obama’s executive actions on immigration.
Reuters reports 6/23/2016 that Baltimore police officer Caesar Goodson Jr. was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the death of Freddie Gray.
An article in The Washington Post 6/23/2016 states that Democratic lawmakers ended a 24 hour sit-in to protest gun-control when Republicans announced an adjournment of the House for the long-scheduled Fourth of July recess which would have effectively left the protestors sitting in the dark.
Exit but not the Brexit
And, speaking on sitting in the dark, according to a 6/7/2016 24/7 Wall St. report, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Detroit all experienced significant outflows of population, with New York, in particular, experiencing a net loss of more than 700,000 people. As they say, when it comes to real estate, it’s “location, location, location.” Will the last person leaving please turn off the lights?
