Fear is Good
“Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful,” is Buffet’s famous quote about his approach to the markets, reports a Nasdaq article, 6/21/2022. The article went on to point out another Buffet observation, that markets often start to rise well before the economy turns positive, offering a unique environment for long term investors. As an example of this, the article presented how the CPI peaked at apporximately15% in 1980 while the S&P 500 rose by 30% that same year; proffering how negative headlines are often a lagging indicator of stock market performance. The question for us now becomes, based on Buffet's observation,
Is the current negative sentiment a buying opportunity?
