Pent-up Retail Demand

‘Retailers’ are seeingpent-up demand’ created by the pandemic restrictions, says Matthew Boss, analyst for JPMorgan, reports CNBC 5/22/2020. E-commerce trends have been very good, and interestingly, the brick-and-mortar industry is trending up. In particular, there was a huge acceleration in April, suggesting that the trending bifurcation benefiting e-commerce and leisure brands and adversely effecting department stores is continuing.

Is this V-shape recovery kind-of-stuff…?

Promising Vaccine Data

‘Looking quite promising’ was the commentary on data relating to a coronavirus vaccine, made by Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases reports CNBC 5/22/2020. However, he noted that there has not been a full data peer review, yet, and that an extended stay-at-home order could cause irreparable damage…if too long.
