‘Unemployment falls’ to lowest level in half a century, reports CNBC, 5/3/2019. Further, new hires rose to 263,000 in April while the unemployment rate fell to 3.6%, the lowest level in 50 years.
Strong Earnings So Far
Strong earnings are buoying the markets this season, says the CNBC article, 5/3/2019. In fact, according to the article, FactSet is reporting that 75% of the S&P 500 companies, which have reported, have exceeded earnings estimates.
