Powell’s First Testimony before Congress
‘Markets moved down’ on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s first public testimony, according to MarketWatch, February 27, 2018. In his first opportunity before Congress, Powell spoke of a strengthening economy, a continuing of strength in the labor market, strength around the globe with fiscal policy becoming more stimulative and inflation moving up to target which left investors concerned about a more aggressive tightening policy.
