Caucus Chaos

Did the party front-runners hold the line? Well, here’s how it went. In the Iowa caucuses the GOP ended up with Cruz winning, followed closely by Trump and Rubio, while the Democrats registered a virtual tie between Clinton and Sanders, according to a CNBC (2/2/2016) report. However, not to cut bait, Heavy (2/2/2016) reported that Clinton won, receiving 49.9% of the vote, while Sanders received 49.6% of the vote. Looks like Trump did not Trump and Clinton tied with a socialist. On to New Hampshire for the February 9th primary.

The Slippery Slope

Bottom tier politicians were not the only thing slipping on the Tuesday after the Iowa caucus, with stocks sharply lower and oil briefly falling below $30 a barrel for the first time in 5 days, according to NASDAQ (2/2/2016). The article also stated that the markets fell despite upbeat earnings. Apparently, headwinds, too.

The Ide’s of February

To cap all this activity, at the end of the week, Bloomberg (2/2/2016)reports, that we have Jobless Claims, Employment Situation and International Trade to chew on.

A Flood of Potential Law Changes

Bloomberg (1/21/2016) reports that New York City may ease enforcement of laws on public urination. According to the article, urinating and drinking in public would no longer be treated as a crime under a package of bills the New York’s City Council is considering. One can only ponder the negative effect on companies that make adult diapers.
