“Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts”....Maybe?
According to the CDC,11/25/2021, 74.1% of the population over 5 years of age in the USA have been vaccinated. This number does not include unreported cases of covid or those having experienced herd immunity. Further, approximately 48 million Americans have contracted the covid with approximately 800k having died. This means the current death rate is around 1.6%. As many of the most susceptible have died and a greater part of the population has some type of immunity, the death rate will most likely fall. Also, these death rate numbers do not reflect the wrongful accreditation of deaths in the USA to the covid through mistake, incompetence or fraud in an attempt to garner special funding. Therefore, the number, perhaps, is significantly lower.
And now…the omicron virus…. where we have, Bill Ackman, in a 11/29/2021 CNBC article, suggesting the new omicron variant of the coronavirus could give U.S. stocks a…. boost, if symptoms turn out to be ‘less severe.’
Which brings us to Homer’s warning, “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.”...Maybe?
