Well, what is Santa putting in your stocking this Christmas?

The Financial Times (FT) (12/17/2015) reports that the Fed raised rates by 25 basis points, lifting it from the historic lows that have existed since December, 2008. Equity markets initially rose with positive sessions in the US, Europe and Asia. The Wall Street Journal (12/16/2015) further reported that this change might cause capital outflows from the emerging markets as investors seek higher yields. In addition, the dollar continued to strengthen while oil drifted to lows not seen for years.

In the spirit of “Auld Lang Syne”

It was just this past April when the AP(4/7/2015) reported that President Obama announced that ‘global warming isn’t just affecting the weather, it’s harming Americans’ health, saying, “You can’t cordon yourself off from air.” Obama, now connecting the dots, according to a Washington Post (12/4/2015) article, has made this statement in a recent interview “that future instability stemming from climate change can lead to “dangerous” ideologies.” So climate change equals terrorism?

Now…

Moving past climate change,The Los Angeles Times (12/16/2015) announced that Saudi Arabia has formed a new anti-terrorism coalition, involving 34 participating countries. In a statement released by Saudi Arabia, “(they) have decided on the formation of a military alliance led by Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism, with a joint operations center based in Riyadh to coordinate and support military operations.” In addition, the statement indicated that there are more than 10 other Islamic nations showing their support of this alliance.

And a last throw of the dice…

So we now have clarity? The Hill (11/24/2015) reports that the presidential Iowa polls show Trump and Cruz neck and neck with Christie rising. Nevertheless, a recent NBC Poll (12/14/2015) states that Clinton would trounce Trump and defeat Cruz but lose to Marco Rubio or Ben Carson. And, now the great question…what the heck is going to come out of that stocking?

Ho, Ho, Ho!!!
