'Consumers are more confident' despite recession fears, soaring interest rates and continued high prices, says the prestigious University of Michigan Consumer Survey, according to CNN Business 12/10/2022. The index measured 59.1 while economists were expecting a reading of 56.9.
Absolutely Maybe!!!
Nevertheless, the CPI, in addition, slowed to 7.1% last month compared to a year ago, excluding volatile food and energy costs which rose 6.0%. A Wall Street Journalsurvey had predicted gains of 7.3% for headline inflation and 6.1% for core prices.
Many are suggesting that lower oil prices, helped
by oil reserve releases, influenced the lower CPI reading,
taking some of the shine off of the snow
this Holiday season.
So...??? And !!!...
