AUTHOR: TOWNE SCHERER.COM 11/20/2015: Towne Scherer Private Wealth Management BLOG: ‘Paris terrorist attacks’ on Friday the 13th targeting young concert-goers, soccer fans and Parisians enjoying popular night spots, resulted in an initial 120 dead, with 350 wounded and the deadliest violence to strike France since WW2, according to the AP. Shortly after this, FOX NEWS reported that French President Hollande announced that France is at war against terrorism by the Islamic State group. Further, The Washington Post reported France, the following day, started the launch of airstrikes on the Islamic State’s main stronghold in Syria, with the French police carrying out as many as 414 raids across France since the original terrorist acts. Interestingly, Money reports, in the wake of all this discord in France, the European and American markets are up, believing this is a sign of investor faith that central banks will do everything in their power to prevent a recession in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks. Along with Jobless Claims and the Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook coming at the end of the week, the Fed minutes came out Wednesday, reiterating that the pace of rate hikes will be “gradual,” to which the markets reacted positively. We end the week with the Obama administration confirming their plan to bring about 10,000 Syrian refugees to the United States next year, despite Syria’s ties to the terrorist attacks in France, according to a report by CNN. Nevertheless, Governors of a least 31 states say they will not accept the Syrian refugees. Looks like many are experiencing an extended Halloween this year…especially France. Unfortunately, a very scary trick or treat?
