59 People Killed, 500 Injured

59 people were killed and 500 were injured when, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old gambler and real estate investor opened fire with automatic weapons from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on a country western concert across the street, reports the Los Angeles Times 10/2/2017. The motives for the attack are not clear at this time; however, the overall event has many questioning whether Paddock had outside influences.

Wall Street at New Record Highs

The three major indices, the S&P 500, the Dow and the Nasdaq, all reported record highs at the close, according to Reuters 10/3/2017. Gains were helped by increases in carmakers after very good September vehicle sales and a move forward in airline shares.

So missiles are flying over Japan, hurricanes are crashing on the shores of the southern states and a mass shooting is occurring in the nation’s gambling capital. All this and the markets keep moving forward to new heights. Some are suggesting that the markets in these wild times are now only focused on earnings.
