Emerging 2019 Trends
Domestic Equities followed by International Equities are the top ranked allocation areas of the investment market, according to Dorsey Wright’s relative strength system, 1/23/2019. Within the markets, the leading sectors are technology, healthcare, utilities and industrials with utilities and consumer cyclicals fading at the end of last week. Both cash and fixed income continue to be lagging areas in the opening month of 2019.
Economic Calendar
Of significance, the economic calendar for this last week of January 2019 is as follows: 1/29-Consumer Confidence index 1/30-4Q GDP 1/31-Core Inflation, Chicago PMI 2/1-Non-Farm Payrolls, Unemployment Rate, Consumer Sentiment Index
Although Bob Dylan’s song, Subterranean Homesick Blues, from 1965, says, “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the winds blow,” it sure nice to have some indicators that suggest a direction…or rain.
